This is where it began: Jackson Hole Wyoming

This is a video a shot on Route 191....not too far from Yellowstone...
These antlers have been here in Jackson Hole for a long time... .

I stayed with my friend Greg who owned a restaurant called the Bird...
I know the goatee has to go but don't tell him that or no free beer or hamburgers...After too many hamburgers and not enough beers I started out on the road here:
Actually it was the other way but what the heck, that's a nice shot.Tomorrow the bike fandango begins in earnest. I’m really ready to go and face this incredibly beautiful country on my bike and with my wits. Most people carry guns around here, I went to a gun show yesterday and everybody views guns as some sort of life accessory. More in the weeks to follow…; Next morning I left after saying goodby to greg and his dad:
I got on route 26 and headed out into Idaho along the Palisades reservoir and then got on route 31 and started up along the back of the Tetons. This shot is from my first day:
As you can see this is beautiful and spectacular country. I stayed route 31 and a day or two later I got on route 20 until I passed the town of West Yellowstone which is the westerly entrance to Yellowstone Park. After Yellowstone I got on route 191 and followed it all the way to a town called Four Corners where I made a left onto route 84. Both these routes are really scenic and I highly recommend them. Especially in the morning or at night...here are some more shots I took along the way...
Here's some video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTr1bRfjMV8&list=UU2W6VZRormrHErsyxguzp1g&index=3&feature=plcp

I followed route 84 through some beautiful byways. There are some absolutely spectacular birds in this part of the country wish I had more pictures from this part of the trip. Especially, interesting was the town of Phillipsburg, which is the culmination of the drive on route 84 through the Pintler mountains. You can see
from this link here what I'm talking about...http://bondpix.com/Pintler.htm...
Phillipsburg looks like a classic old town from the 1890's, or something out of the Twilight Zone...getting back to route 191 near yellowstone....this video below captures some of the spectacular scenery near the river the road follows.  Lots of fisherman...not to many bicyclists...

Before you get to Missoula you might want to check out Butte Montana(see pictures above), a notorious mining town that once boasted hundreds of bars and mining rigs.

Most people like to avoid Butte, mostly because it is an EPA Superfund sight and suffers from the effects of toxic mining residues that have created a gigantic lake near the edge of town that may someday contaminate the entire area if it over flows.   Here's more video:

Here's where I'll try to streamline the presentation.  I got to Missoula and stayed for two days before I continued up to Sandpoint Idaho.  This part of the trip was less spectacular(but still interesting!) but I think that anyone who has made it this far should try to get up to Glacier National Park...You're only a few hundred miles away and it would be a real shame if you didn't get up there for a day or two.  If you don't have much money it only costs $25 a night to camp in one of the campgrounds if you have a car.  After I left Sandpoint Idaho I went to my friends house in Troy Montana... here is a video of his property...

Let me show you some footage I took of Glacier National Park before I sign off.  I saw this little guy almost right away when I entered the park.

Here's Macdonald Lake next to the Village of Apgar:

And last but not least footage taken near the Going to the Sun Road from the Highline Trail:

I hope you enjoy your trip and if you're able to get online check in on this blog site and I will try to make it look better and add more pictures and footage.  Here's one for the road....

So long for now...
